Well done. It's a rubbish drug, does nothing at all except reduce your desire for the next hit for a little while, and then make you ill.

Good for both of you.

Congratulations! :) I am sure it's not easy

I have never used tobacco, but wanted to ween myself off caffeine and it took me maybe 5 years, and I have mostly stayed clear of it for about 10 years. Now a single 20oz coffee will mean that I can't sleep for one night and have disturbed sleep the next night.

Er, 20 oz isn't really "single"

That's an imperial pint mug full of coffee.

It is single if you only drink one, like a pint of beer is "just one pint"

Thank you, yes!

Also 20oz (US) is not an imperial pint. :sneaky:

I stand corrected, your coffee consumption is clearly very moderate.

If you are going to drink proper strength coffee then it is only deserving that you can’t sleep after knocking back 20fl oz ( just under 600ml or the best part of two cans of Coke).

Back in the days when I drank caffeinated products I used to limit myself to a daily intake of approximately one imperial gallon of espresso strength coffee, not because I wanted to sleep less than the four hours a night that I was getting but because all those trips to the bathroom were somewhat too frequent.

Having quit smoking and severely limited my caffeine intake at the about the same time I’d have to say that it was an absolute breeze when compared to the withdrawal symptoms my sister-in-law went through. It was her idea to challenge me to a quitting contest, my fags against her Diet Coke habit. She got physically ill, severe headaches and all manner of other issues. Went through all that grief and was back on the diet soda muck less than 12 months later. Personally speaking, I’d rather risk taking up smoking again than drink soda and eat junk food on anything more than the rarest of occasions.
