I remember as a kid in the 80's we used to get the Friday and Monday off, one for Lincoln and one for Washington, although Lincolns was never an official holiday, but we always got off school both days.

I remember that too.. However in the districts around here they still do a Friday and Monday, but Friday usually always gets taken back because it's used as a snow day. This year we haven't had any big snow event, so we actually have a 5 day weekend (Tuesdays are usually a teacher inservice day)

I'm a USC and I'm working today. My boss, who is a Canadian and lives in Calgary, has the day off. The injustice!
