Re: Poll: Are You Off Friday and Monday?
I'm self employed, and I'm giving myself Friday off.
I guess that'll be Friday off with no pay.
Anyone out there want to pay me for not showing up?

the missus too....what's worse for some people, if there is a public holiday that the bank closes for, you can't work, so you have a forced vacation day, for people who have started say before a new year, would end up in negative holiday allowance for the x-mas and new year day shut down as they wouldn't have accured enough holiday time

They decided to be closed Friday, so holiday for me, and I'm off Monday, but that's my regular LWOP day.

In fact I think you'll find there's no requirement in the USA for employers to give any paid holiday at all, including July 4th! It's out of the goodness of their hearts that US workers average 13 days off per year.
There is a new law being suggested that workers get a minimum of a week paid. We'll see how it goes...

Oops, I realized that the stock exchange is closed on Friday. I wonder why your bank is open then.

My husband's usual days off are sunday and monday, but his company is giving everyone friday off, so all those people who have off a 'normal' weekend will get a long weekend. But he has to go in on saturday

Since 'two days off with pay' is unheard of for July 4th under 'normal' circumstances, what would possess you to think an employer would give two days off with pay in the current economic climate?!

I never get a day off, mum of twins! but DH didn't get any days for 4th of July this year, that said he has 23 days holidays over the year, which here I believe is almost unheard of? and when he flips out of his protected UK holiday he still will get 20 days due to his service with the company, like the US employees, unfortunately normally at least 8 days have to be taken Christmas:
thumbdown: but they don't include holidays such as Christmas Day, Thanksgiving ect in this total. so we are lucky
