a poem
 

here is a poem I made and sent to my daughter when she moved. She also replied in poetry.
hope you like it


You broke my heart when you said you’d go,
To Canada and join the flow
Of the many people leaving this life
Taking husbands, children, pets and wife-
For a better future you told me so,
But are you right? Do you really know?
You said you’ll go, you really should,
But when the time came, I didn’t think you would.
We won’t be able to share in the things,
Being part of a family and all it brings.
Birthdays, parties and a wedding event,
I really wish you hadn’t have went.
How did he persuade you, what did he say?
Could we have stopped you, we often pray?
Was it really so easy to leave us behind
Do you think of us often or are we out of your mind?
Will we keep in touch often how easy will it be?
Will you make an effort, or will it be mainly up to me?
I’m older than you and I know the score,
We’ll not be as close as we were before.
But I’ll hide my sadness and try to be bright,
And even though you are out of my sight,
I’ll pray for you often and hope for the day,
You’ll come back to Scotland and be here to stay!

Here is her answer......

It hurts me to know, you feel that way
but would you want that to be my reason to stay?
Is it the right move for me and my
kids, I'll only know if I give it a try
I know you all need someone to blame
but Dave's a good guy, which is a bit of a shame
He's trying his best to give the best life
to all 3 children and his wife
There's lots of goods and lots of bads
The hardest being, it makes you so sad
It's only a few hours up in the air
you know if you need me, I'll be there
I said I'd give it a year or two
maybe by then I'll know what to do
whether to come back or whether to stay
I know which one will make your day!
we'll use the computer and the webcam
and then I'll see my Dad and my Mam!
I love you millions and miss you a lot
you're out of sight but not forgot.
