Maybe if they offer cheap tickets to the annual COP attendees they might have a chance, if they can be persuaded to give up their bizjets!

Getting a commitment from United would seem to be a big boost! I'm sure there are a thousand 'get-out' clauses, but still - this does seem to represent a significant move.

Southwest will exercise its options for an additional 34 737 MAX 7 bringing total order book for that model to 234 aircraft, they also have 149 MAX 8 on order.

American Airlines is asking non-union corporate staff to help assist this summer at DFW airport in some roles, increased demand, and after extensive lay offs and early retirement buy outs, they seem to have insufficient staff the surge in travel demand this summer.

Staff won't be paid for their 6 hour shifts at the airport, and they will have to do the 6 hours outside of their normal working hours, so basically 6 hours free given to the company.

Company says nobody will be required, but having worked for AA* and at America West which AA has a fair chunk of management from (CEO is former America West/US Airways along with others) I would not be surprised if management places a great deal of pressure on the staff to make them feel they are obligated even if its technically not being required.

I worked a lot of hours at America West and AA without OT because I felt pressured to do so and would face repercussions for refusing.

* my time at AA was during old school AA days, late 1990's, however new AA has a fair chunk of former America West/US Airways management in their ranks currently.

Isn't asking staff to work 'off the clock' flat out illegal? I'm sure the labor board will have an interest in that.

Maybe HQ being salaried employees makes a difference? And since its voluntarily technically a work around any laws?

Delta did something similiar a couple months ago, so I would assume their legal teams looked into it.

An off duty Delta flight attendant went a little crazy on an LA to Atlanta flight that had to divert to Oklahoma City.

No charges have been filed but the person is in FBI custody.

Going to say, probably will be an ex-Delta flight attendant fairly soon after such a stunt.

Cell phone video from the flight.

The CNN article makes it seem like he had a mental break more than anything else. Apparently he boarded the plane wearing a helmet and knee/ankle pads and was threatening to ''take the plane down'

Agreed, they are most likely an ex-flight attendant at this point.

Seems it may have been a maintenance oops. Rumor online is maintenance was doing a solenoid gear up test and put the nosewheel pin into the wrong hole.

Airline I worked for had a 757 fall on its nose when maintenance made a small error during gear up tests in the hangar.

I would avoid flying American Airlines (AA) for the time, they are having some labor shortage issues and cancelling flights because of it.

Had never seen this video until today. My my my. When planes truly were cool.

Did Concorde even fly? Not really. Those giant engines just pushed it along. Enough thrust and you can make a brick fly.
