Re: Planespotting II
I like flying and all, but unless the main cabin had sufficient leg room to be comfortable, no way I would do 19 hours non-stop anywhere, now if I could afford first class, no problem, can be pretty comfortable in first, sleep, etc but coach that long sounds horrid.... I do okay until around 12 hour mark then I am ready to get off the plane.

It will be OK I think. I did Frankfurt to Buenos Aires in the summer, on Lufthansa's B747-8i, and everything was fine in economy for a flight that is just under 14 hours. There are already other regular flights with longer durations around 16 hours or so too.

True.
I am tall with long legs and normal coach seats are for the most part too close together for me to be remotely comfortable, the 3-5 hour flights I take within North America become uncomfortable, cannot imagine being stuck in a normal coach seat for 10+ hours let alone nearly an entire day.
Now Delta main cabin + or whatever its called, isn't bad, it has sufficient leg room and is a good compromise between first class and main cabin, and worth the extra money.

I just had my second flight on a BA A380, in regular coach (SFO-LHR). I felt again that this was a most-uncomfortable experience compared to other long-haul planes. Didn't help that the guy in front of me reclined his seat for the entire flight. I would personally vote to remove reclining seats in coach - it just screws up the person behind, and almost forces them to also recline, causing a chain reaction down the line.
I don't know if this was a one time thing, but I'd personally avoid the A380, I see no real advantage to the passenger.

Yes, recline in coach needs to go, its not a useful benefit anymore at all. Looking at seat guru BA A380 has 31" seat pitch in regular coach, and World Traveler Plus at 38". I know 31" is too small for me to be comfortable, I was an American flight with 31" seat pitch and it was horrible, had to put my legs at an angle the whole flight.
My legs are just too long...lol

Just booked flights LHR-JFK for next Easter with Virgin Atlantic on the A330-300. They were around £100 cheaper than BA. Never flown VS before, so I'm interested to see what they're like.

I love spotting aircraft as they are flying in the opposite direction. It really gives a sense of speed as you rocket past each other. It’s also cool to spot other aircraft in the stack at heathrow.

The FAA is proposing a $6,428,000 civil penalty against Lufthansa for allegedly operating 900 flights that were not in compliance with Federal Regulations, specifically between Frankfurt and San Diego and return and Frankfurt to Philadelphia and return.
Foreign airlines can only operate scheduled flights into and out of airports listed on their FAA-issued Operations Specification and FAA alleges that San Diego and Philadelphia were not on the list during the time these flights operated.

Looks like the vultures might be flying around Hong Kong Airlines, they wont be able to meet their entire payroll apparently for November.
