Re: Planespotting
When I saw this on the BBC News website, I immediately thought of this topic:
BBC - Future - Stunning composite images show an armada of airliners

Re: Planespotting
Was out yesterday in the Cincinatti, Ohio, area. Managed to snap this Polar Air Cargo B747 on approach to CVG.
It was on a short flight from Chicago O'Hare.

Re: Planespotting
I didn't get a picture because I was still driving, unfortunately, but I had run out to grab some lunch and as I was pulling into the car park, a P51 Mustang, all shiny and new looking flew right by. That was a pretty cool unexpected lunch sighting.
There's a general aviation airport not half a mile from work (and we're on the approach to runway 27, but I've never seen anything more interesting than a twin-engined Beechcraft until that

Meh! Mustangs are like buses. You wait ages to see one, then a load come along. We had one based at the Jet Center when I worked there. The guy was always going up in it. Then another appeared for the McCall motorworks party, the Collins's foundation bought one in, and now I've changed careers, my office is next to Salinas airport. There's a mustang based there too LOL.

Keep your eyes open. I think the Collings Foundation tour the US with their historic aircraft. You can go up in them too.

Re: Planespotting
I guess they are the owners of the B-17 and P-51 Mustang that I have seen flying out of at least two different airfields in NC. I usually notice the sound of an older engine in an aircraft flying nearby and, especially with the B-17, the slow speed. I have seen ads for flights in them too.

My office block is owned by Lewis Energy and their owner is Rod Lewis of Lewis Air Legends (Lewis Air Legends | Rod Lewis Warbird Collection). My office overlooks a few of his hangars at San Antonio airport and the planes often come out for a 'spin'.
