Coincidentally, I just ordered two large frozen boxes of items from Parkers.
The Fish and Chips came frozen in a cardboard box. Following the instructions, they came out OK. Not exactly like in England, but closer than anything else I've had here, fresh or otherwise.
I did not like their bacon. I am very disappointed. They inject a lot of water and 'crap' in to them (almost 15% according to the label). The bacon has that horrible white slimy yuk that seeps out during cooking. Their sausage is OK, its actually all raw, whereas others are fully cooked.

I had always ordered bacon from RJ Balson and Son, but when they dropped some of my favorite banger recipes I decided to shop around. I found Parkers and stocked up on all kinds of stuff (including condiments). The quality is just not the same.

In a nutshell RJ Balson and Son is like M&S and Parkers is like Lidl.

Shipping took 4 days, yet was still perfectly frozen. They have some really good shipping freezer boxers.

I found Balson's bacon and sausages to be better than Parkers. Parkers excel at pork pies.

Cooking up some Parkers bacon just now. This is just five rashers of bacon. I'm not at all impressed and will be going back to Balson's. Way too much added filler in the form of water and who knows what. According to Parkers, 15% of this is not bacon....

Yuck. That's why we make our own bacon.

Home made fish, chips & peas using this batter recipe: https://www.tablespoon.com/posts/how...ke-beer-batter

Steveq ably manned the turkey fryer in the garage, while I did the kitchen based bits. Timing was perfect 😁

No photos as we were too hungry to wait any longer for our dinner.

The chips at the Atlantic Avenue Chipshop in Brooklyn make the grade so it can be done.

Ew. It's very fatty too.

Though I didn't get the right cuts of meat (ended up with loin I think), my previous couple of attempts at curing bacon came out acceptably well, and was really easy to do.

Sausages, on the other hand, I struggled with - both stuffing and texture/flavour (no rusk).

The egg custard tarts from Parkers were terrible, the chicken balti pies, just about acceptable. The chicken tikka pasties from CornishPastyco are 10 times better. The pork pie needed more jelly, but was good. I think TJs sausages were better than Parkers this year.

There are a few good places in Portland for fish and chips. I agree the Frying Scotsman is good.

Oh no, I just took the plunge on Parkers and as part of that got an egg custard.

Hopefully your's are better then mine or you are not as fussy. In mu opinion they were a lot worse than Tesco or Sainsbury's egg custards. We do have a local cornish lady that makes good British vakes, but she only sells at farmers markets occasionally.

Mrs K makes a good Jam rolypoly which is great with custard. That made up for it.

Mine tasted more like cold scrambled eggs. Maybe I should have complained. I just assumed that they were not very good.

Useful comments on here, we often order pies and other food from Parkers but have not trusted the fish and chips, from what I read here they seem quite good. The nearest real fish and chip shop to home is 88 miles away in Bennington VT, really good food including mushy peas, but a long drive.

Just gulped down a large fish and chips. Absolutely fantastic. Baked fish for 10 minutes at 375, flipped and added chips for another 10 minutes. Came out perfect.
