How can that be...paracetamol is the same compound as acetaminophen? Maybe they are non active ingredients such as colourings etc. Also different brand names may add other active ingredients ie asprin, caffine.

When we first came to the US in '89 we were told that Parecetomol in the UK was a lot stronger than the acetaminephen here when I asked at the pharmacy for it. Plain paracetomol in the UK used to contain codeine many moons ago

A friend is a pharma scientist responsible for one today's leading prescription meds and he told me when we first came here they were the same.

Never heard that before....it's always been known as co-codamol.

I can well believe that the dosage of an individual tablet was larger, but that doesn't make it stronger.

There's nothing in the link I posted to suggest that was the case. Check out its history and available forms sections.

You're wasting money then... just buy the generic form of naprosyn (I'm a big fan too); it's much cheaper.

I know I may be getting old and a bit senile but I know you could buy Paracetomol with codiene. That was the reason that OD's were so bad because of the acute liver damage from the codiene.

I didn't claim you couldn't. What I said was there's no evidence it was called simply "paracetemol" in the UK.
