OT: Renewing Canadian Passport

Hi there,

I am a CPR in the USA and need to renew my Canadian Passport. I was wondering if anyone knew what steps I had to take to do this and roughly how long the process takes?

Thanks

Susan

You can look up the steps on the Canadian Embassy page.

Susan-

Stantton had no problem renewing his here in the states. He called the Candian Embasy here and they mailed him the forms. He wrote a check for the fee and mailed them back. Within just a couple of weeks he got his new passport.

Just make sure you make *plenty* of copies of your US visa before you turn your old passport in. :) I would also copy the I-551 stamp, etc.

I was just on the Cdn gov't website today looking at that... I'm considering
renewing my passport NOW before I get any stamps or visas .. my passport is
still good for another 2 years, but looks like a pain to get it renewed from
the US. The website has specific (downloadable) forms for CPR's in the US.

Well, there would be the advantage of having a passport with the visa in it and the I-551 stamp through the whole BCIS process. We renewed Stantton's before his AOS interview, but after we were married, so his K1 is not in his new passport, we only have copies!

It wasn't difficult renewing from the states, just that he had to be without his passport for a few weeks (which made both of us kinda nervous)

We just sent in a renewal yesterday. There is a specific form for getting
approval from the US. Cost was $95 CDN for a 24 page passport. It gets sent to
Hull Quebec and processing should take about 2 to 3 weeks. Chris is also
waiting for conditions to be removed and wanted to have the new passport (his
expires in June) just in case he has to go in and get a stamp.

Hi there,

Thanks for all the responses....seems I know exactly what to do now :) Will have to live without the passports for a little while, but we have our CPR cards so I shouldn't think that should be a problem.!

If you haven't done anything yet you can go to this URL
