OK Guys .. here goes.. this is a classic!!
My husband went to use MSN to call me today at the cyber club in Morocco.
Morocco Telecom has forbidden all Internet providers from giving access to sites that
permit calls.
What a bunch of bloody bollocks!
My husband was red hot with anger, and as I slowly gathered more information, I am
really furious!
What's up with that?
So, can anyone recommend any alternate sites for chatting that doesn't require downloads.
Like off the wall places?
Yahoo, mIRC, ICQ, MSN chat, is out of the question.
Can they do that? Is this truly possible?
My husbands explanation below...
Lisa (B)-USC Ahmed-Morocco I-130
. The reason it is because Morocco Telecom prohibited all the possibilities for the
Internet provideurs in Morocco of using the sites and services for faires phone calls
using Internet. The reason it is biensur the money, as Ca Morocco Telecom lose much
money when they is less expensive using Internet than the telephone lines directly.

It could have been worse: in Saudi Arabia you get jailed for the same reason.

Countries do all sorts of weird things like that. My first husband had a problem when
Saudi clients were denied access to a JPMorgan web site because the "organ" in the name
was assumed by the government censors to be indicative of a sex site. It took the
diplomats awhile to straighten out the difference between a robber-baron and a
pornographer.

I guess they'd have a problem with a girl I know, whose name is Tani Teets (try saying
that quickly).

He can try www.excite.com they have a chat, and the possibilite of using the microphone,
creating private rooms. The quality is not super good, but at least is something, is more
like talking with walkie talkies though.
Good luck. Nalu

Thanks Nalu..I found a site where I created my own chat. Lots more fun than Yahoo and
MSN!!
Excite has voice chat, and I am not sure of the parameters of this new thing in Morocco.
It took a long time to download all of the software, but it's well worth it.
Cheers!

If you want to talk in a chat room, try going to www.talkcity.com and make a private
chat room.

You can put a little icon on your website(s) and click to chat. See my site to see what it
looks like and how it works. It DOES require a download for the person in the US who has
the icon on their site. But no download for the user who just clicks the icon and a Java
based chat window opens up. Details are here: http://www.bravenet.com
First you join. Then go to the member's area and click on Human Click. Download the
software and put the code on your web page. It can be the only thing on the page if you
like. Upload the page and give the URL to your fiancé and then you two can chat. It works
really well.
I hope this helps you!

Thank you Jonathan..
I found something similar. It is called ChatSpace. Small download, and you can only enter
the chat room when I am on line.
I actually like it better than Yahoo and those other places.
Cheers!

there is actually a chat program that goes straight from IP to IP and has NO server in the
middle... http://www.abbottsys.com/atchat.html Words straight from your screen to his with
no middlemen in between!
Abbottchat...it comes in windoze and mac flavors, and I can vouch that the mac version is
rock-solid. It is worth the money, because you have no concerns about blocked websites,
and it is very fast. (another satisfied user)
