Default OT: K1er's, Where did you tie the knot?

So, my fiance and I are seriously looking at getting married in Vegas. This will be the first time for both of us, and we just don't want to do the Justice of the Peace wedding - we want something simple, yet memorable, inexpensive, and easy/quick to plan (as I'm ya'll can understand). We'd rather spend the money for a great honeymoon, and getting our household started than spending gobs on a huge reception. ;-)

Has anyone else gone to Vegas? If so, did you get the marriage certificate back quickly? BCIS couldn't possibly have any issues with us getting married in Vegas instead of in our home city right?
Any thoughts on this all??

Cheers,
Jamie

PS: And Elvis would not be invited!

My fiance are also thinking of a Vegas wedding, to get all the legal requirements out of the way.
My fiance has this great idea that he will dress as Elvis & me as Priscilla (obviously our parents are seriously unimpressed!)
I would also be interested in info on how it works in terms of marriage licences etc

Get married in the Virgin Islands! That's what we did and you get the honeymoon all in one!

The Virgin Islands sounds amazing but unfortunately would add far to much travelling for my poor family (its going to be 15hrs flying anyway)....

So, how much did it cost to get hitched in the VI? You have any links I could look at? And don't you have to be very careful about which islands you go to, as they are not all US owned? How quickly did you get the marriage certificate back?

We were thinking about going to San Diego after the marriage. That is, of course, if there's anything left to see there after all these wildfires!

Friends of mine have a house they rent there called the castle. And you can be married there also.

i have stayed there and can assure you it is breathtaking but very eclectic!

My wife and I did Vegas and we had Elvis there too! I can highly recommend it to anyone. We had loads of our friends and family there and everyone had a great time.
But wearing a tux in Vegas in July?? What was I thinking!!

We will be living in Northern Cali. so rather than do the Vegas thing, i'm hoping for Tahoe instead. Far more beautiful that Vegas, and you can still get the free drinks in the casino's.

We were in Hawaii about 18 months ago and saw a wedding there, which was pretty impressive also. Seems a lot of Americans hit Hawaii for weddings, and you dont have to worry about AP.

The wedding itself was only $500, the flight and hotel is what can get expensive. This is the coordinator who did our wedding
http://ceremoniesofstjohn.com/. She was wonderful and I would highly recommend her. We got the marriage certificate back after 2 days. The reverend drove to our condo and dropped it off! At first he said he would mail it to us when we got home, but I explained our sitaution with AOS filing and he was very cooperative.

As long as you don't leave US territory, you'll be fine. They checked his passport when we left for stamps outside of the US islands and that was it. The officer seemed to be very familiar with K1s.

We got married by a judge in my godparents' restaurant, in my hometown. No honeymoon this year -- we're saving it for next year for the "second," bigger wedding.

Lake Tahoe is amazing. So beautiful. Get married outside and forget the casinos. They are underwhelming there and I do not think you can bank on free drinks.

If my pre-trial schedule and the children's school had permitted a real vacation/honeymoon I would have pressed to get married in South Lake Tahoe as we'd originally hoped. It is simply beautiful, especially on the Nevada side up the Kingsbury Grade a bit. There are many small chapels up there, as well as lakeside buildings that would make for a memorable wedding view.

The free drinks come only if you're actively gambling. Which theoretically you will not be, at least not the entire time

Default havent yet, but soon I hope

the first place we were looking at was Vegas.. found a beautiful little mission to get married in outside of town and thought maybe of having the reception on lake mead.. however, that plan has since been squashed

then we were looking at a spot only 3 hours from my hometown so it would be easier for everyone, and easier on the pocketbook.. alexandria bay in upstate new york..in the fall... well, no approval in time, so thats out.

now we are looking at a place outside of buffalo..easy to fly into for out of town guests.

vegas I think had a lot of options, I didnt want to JP wedding either.. what I did notice with LV is it seems to cater to the small wedding, and ours was getting up to about 50+

good luck planning
