ok so essentially, they're not banned from entering the country, just banned from flying into the country.

Fly to Toronto and get the bus.

I can't believe its legal to keep a US Citizen from returning to his own country.

They are not, read Manc's post.

I would not want them on the same plane as me.

Hmm, the article headline is a bit misleading.
They weren't refused entry to the US. They were not allowed to board a plane to
the US.
And last I looked, there is no right to board a plane to the US.

No, he isn't an idiot, but one guess on who might be.

Of course the ACLU is behind them. The protectors of Americas? Not in my opinion and that of a million others.

A naturalized US citizen can be stripped of their citizenship if they are found to have committed treasonist acts against the US. Four years away from home in a country where terrorism and terrorist training camps abound and with a relative who has already been found guilt of such acts, is reason enough for them to be interrogated before being allowed back to the US.

I stand with the government on this one and I don't stand with it on much these days.

McGregor Scott, the U.S. attorney for California's eastern district,
confirmed Friday that the men were on the no-fly list and were being kept
out of the country until they agreed to talk to federal authorities.

"They've been given the opportunity to meet with the FBI over there and
answer a few questions, and they've declined to do that," Scott said.
