OT: Anniversary
 

Hi folks!

I just wanted to mention that today is our 10th wedding anniversary. I can’t believe the time has gone by so quickly – although it’s likely due to our *not* worrying about immigration. We submitted the application forms and then got on with life. We honestly never worried about a thing and, in due course, everything happened just as it should. For us, immigration was an adventure, not a burden. We did everything ourselves, sans lawyers… but, to be fair, when we started the process the world was a more simple place than it is today!

If you notice our timeline, we waited 32 months for an AOS interview after submitting the paperwork… and at that time, there were a lot fewer AOS applications than there are now. So, for those who think that 18 months is a long time… well, perhaps this will help you put things in perspective!

I’m taking Sheila to Britain in mid-July… she’s never been!

Timeline:
Mailed I-129F: November 28, 1997
K-1 interview in Montreal: March 27, 1998 – Passed
Married Sheila: May 23, 1998
Filed for AOS: June 15, 1998
AOS interview: February 20, 2001 – Passed
Received PR status: March 4, 2001
Applied for Citizenship: December 8, 2003
Citizenship Interview: May 5, 2004 – Passed
Oath Ceremony: June 25, 2004 – and the journey is over!

Congratulations on your 10th wedding anniversary! It will be our 6th in August and I totally understand what you mean when you say you don't know where the time has gone!

You two were our models back in 1997/1998. We were right behind you in the K-1 quest and will also be celebrating our 10th anniversary in September. You wonder where the time went don't you.

For us, the start of it all was:

March 23, 1998 filed I-129F (Vermont)
June 6, 1998 K-1 approved (Montreal)
September 26, 1998 Wedding
October 1998 filed AOS (NYC)
Naturalization December 2003

Thanks for putting up this post!

My lovely man and I are just starting out on this whole process and I will admit that at times I have been really intimidated by the process. Its just really great to hear how successful its been for you and now you have completed your journey! Thank you so much for giving me a bit of much needed inspiration!
