... envious of how blessed it is here? ... those lists are part the reason why Boulder likes to create a bubble for (our)selves; hence the surrounded by reality joke. Its puzzling how a few of those rankings etc change annually, however, the city hasn't changed from year to year. .... its also a place which gives the least money per capita to local non-profits. A place where people go out of their way with being an animal "guardian", yet humane society has a kill policy (who were behind the push in the first place for everyone to be a guardian). You have to have approval to exterminate a prairie dog (a rodent); a landowner is to obtain a permit from the city before use of any form of lethal control on prairie dogs - sorry Ray, you can't just go out and shoot one with a potato gun. Boulder once tried to ban large retail chains from within city limits ... a place where people take pride saving the environment whilst driving their gas guzzling SUVs; preach about carbon footprints yet live in a McMansion. We like to give ourselves a hug and pat ourselves on the back and absolve oneself at the same time - "Only in Boulder..." indeed!
Oh, it does have one of the highest voter turn-outs.

I lived in Boulder and really liked it. I found everyone very friendly and "normal" good times all around.

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of friends in Boulder. There's also a lot of crazy in Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs. And, damn, if some Boulder chicks are hot. The ones that wash.
