Like a statutory instrument to delay Exit Day under the Withdrawal Act? If this really about ramming through a No Deal Brexit then that’s what you think you would want to avoid.

I'm not really sure what relevance that has to the matter, although it's noteworthy that it was the Parliamentarians who actually prevailed in the Civil War
Indeed. Parliament voted for Brexit and Parliament will get Brexit.

I make an extra eight days compared to last year but that’s splitting hairs.

Was it not after the Civil War - following the execution of Charles I and the establishment of the Commonwealth - that the primacy of Parliament following the interregnum?

I thought the Glorious Revolution was about securing the Protestant succession to the Crown, since it led to the Bill of Rights and Act of Settlement barring any future Catholic monarch.

Not something that's generally taught in schools in Scotland so happy to be correct

Indeed it did re-establish the Protestant succession but it also removed most of the powers of the monarchy. The monarchy still had immense power after Cromwell died and Parliament had restored Charles II to the throne. James II had suspended both the Scottish and English parliaments so part of the deal in putting Mary and William on the throne was to permanently curtail that power.
