Default Noisy singing/dancing people in Library - weird loud behaviour

I am wondering whether this is limited to Rochester and people being generally oddballs and loudmouths here, but a few times I have gone to the library, to either quietly research something or apply for a job etc and there has been some 'fool' (BA-Baracus voice) with their headphones in almost having a dancing fit and singing, either sitting next to me or in the general vicinity.

One time I was right next to one singing person and told the front-desk, they quietened down for a few minutes and then started up again!

Anyway, what is the weirdest type of behaviour you have experienced with a member of the American public since you have been here?

Packing heat (a .44 Magnum no less) in Walmart - not sure that's weird so much as intimidating.

I think it's just Rochester. Upstaters are weird...

Our library is pretty civilized. It's just the 'Friends Group' who are very odd indeed

Oddest other thing I can recall seeing was a man roll bodily right across a busy street in Van Nuys.

In our first town in CT a couple years back where we rented a house, there was a very odd noisy group of folks who always seemed to come to the library in the late mornings to drink coffee and read the newspapers.

They'd greet each other loudly sometimes, and chat round the coffee machine, then they'd squabble about who was "hogging" the favourite local newspaper and the comfortable chairs. I think some were slightly disabled, and others maybe just unemployed & strange. What a racket they'd make!

The husband & I would know it was time to leave the library when they showed up.

Our libraries are, by comparison, surprisingly normal....kind of what you'd expect... quiet, studious places (apart from when the babygroups are in).

I should probably find that a little worrying, as it presumably means that we are the loud weirdos in the corner that everyone is talking about........

I'd rather see a bloke with a revolver wandering around Wally World than listen to the utter hell described in the first post

And to be fair, Walmart quite often makes me want to shoot people too.

It would certainly be a test of one's strength of will to carry a loaded weapon around any supermarket and not use it at least once

Should check out the kids section....utter zoo down there...

Anyway, nothing weird in the various libraries I've been to.

One library I'd like to visit and haven't had the chance yet...not afford is https://www.bostonathenaeum.org/ Bit pricey but does look swanky.

Weirdest library experience was being chased away by someone in a tux and white gloves, but that was the Boddy. A mate was saying because of his new work title, he should have been able to get to the Dooms Day Book...and well didn't work out so well

Or driving. Learning to drive in Westchester I'm getting amazed at how little road rage there is.

Favourite moment so far is when my driving instructor leaned over and beeped another driver for blowing the all-way stop in front of me, just as I was ready to start. I did have a feeling she hadn't seen me or the stop sign and wasn't going to stop so didn't have to slam the brakes on or anything.

Driving is bad anywhere. Grand Theft Auto is a form of stress relief for me
