Most condos and/or apartments have a power outlet nearby, but I have to agree to this being a drawback if you can't charge it at least at work. Tesla offer free charging stations at rest areas and other public locations and, of course, businesses are catching on with free charges while you shop.

Er, no. 0-60 in 2.6 seconds for the P90D Ludicrous is a little bit more than a novelty!

Even more pricey if you want a decent one!

I wouldn't get a new one, you can get used ones for about $11k - low mileage, of course.... just for a commute car, I think it's not a bad idea. One of OH's colleagues has one and charges it at work so he doesn't even pay for the electricity.

I'd consider Telsa a luxury brand, certainly not for the average driver. If they ever come down to a reasonable price which for me is under 20k, then maybe I'd consider electric, but at the moment to me, they are luxury and novelty for those with money.


Even if your condo/apartment has outlets, doesn't mean your permitted to use them, most buildings I have lived in have locked covers so tenants can't use them, and I have yet to work anywhere that have facilities to charge.

However we do have a Telsa charging station in town in a strip mall in town, no idea how often they are used.

Their website has monthly payments in the 691+ range, which in my view is not a viable alternative to a gas vehicle at this time for the majority of drivers.

I live in CA, and no way would I have one, not even in a free gift. In my travels, I have only seen 3 charging stations. Admittedly, I wasn't on the look out for them. If I happened to live within 3 miles of work, within walking distance of home, then it might be a consideration.

I am amazed on how many people own Ford Expeditions, Suburbans, F150s and other vehicles that cost over $50. I do not see many $20k vehicles being driven around like Nissan Sentras, or Kia Hamster vehicles.

They obviously weren't selling very well and so were even more persistent with that stupid ad to try and get shot of them.
