Hi Steerpike! A friend of mine and I both have birthdays in December, so for the past couple of years (including this year), we started a tradition of going to Pars on Christmas Eve for dinner. YUM!

We had carol singers last night - I turned up at the door with purse in hand, expecting to make a charitable donation, but it turned out to be some neighbours who apparently do the rounds like this each year just to be festive, glasses in hand and slightly merry. Which has at least put paid to our wonderings about how Mormon our new street might be.

Having spent recent years in Switzerland, we're still doing Christmas on a Continental timetable of main meal on Christmas Eve. As it's just the 4 of us over Christmas, this is great as it turns the 25th into a sort of Boxing Day, where we potter gently about the house and occasionally raid the fridge for cold meats and salad. It also freed up the dining table for the copious amounts of Lego building that were necessary today.

Happy Christmas, all!
Welcome to Phoenix! Seems like this is almost the "What is the Phoenix Christmas tradition" thread. LOL

Don't underestimate how merry Mormons can get after a few glasses of diet coke ...

Hi Rene

Now that is a good question! We really ought to get around to it now that I have been here a year .

Let's arrange something soon. Although I have to warn you that I am way out of practice and have not been on the ice for quite some time. You will be almost professional by now then

Let's PM about a date soon.

I hope they're all over the worst of it and feeling tip-top very soon.

Indeed! Surely some of you are going hiking? We are 2 hours north of you in red rock country but plan to do that today or tomorrow. I keep wanting to tell the locals (pssst, this is NOT cold weather).

This year we did our annual trek down to Tucson to visit my grandfather, followed by an evening in Scottsdale, staying at the redone Saguaro hotel. We took Mom for a drink at the Hotel Valley Ho where she's been wanting to check out the art deco interior.
