I love the way she can bring a depth to the scene in all the different styles. (Not sure that makes sense but I know what I mean )

"Impermanence"
Oil on board
(c) 2010 Alison Jardine

This painting is about loss, grief, death, and living with these burdens.

The glasses are broken, but all their shards are contained within them.

Whoa....I like that one.

And another completely different painting...!

"Modern Romance"
oil on canvas
46" x 60"
(c) 2010 Alison Jardine

Modern Romance is work that speaks of a love of nature, in a contemporary, almost abstract way. I was captivated by this small tree near my studio, with the red blossoms that sat like nodes in a web of silver branches.
My style in this references the Romance period, although the compositions is entirely modern.

Ali and I have discussed giclee prints many times, but it just doesn't work out cost effective, either for you as the buyer or for us. A reasonable sized giclee would cost ~30-50% of the price of the original just to print. Add stretcher bars, shipping and the initial setup cost, and we'd be looking at an expensive print and a tiny margin, and you would be getting a print, not the original.

We will keep revisiting this as an option, but I'm afraid it just doesn't work right now.

But Ali is very happy that you like it.

Ah right, I remember you mentioning it before but I can see your point.

Well I'll hint to OH that I have the perfect place for it.

I'm so glad this one has had such a great effect on so many people! You should see it "in the flesh", so to speak. It's HUGE and a really impressive painting!

We're just in the process of buying an apartment...I want the decor to be minimal and modern. That would be perfect...but I don't know whether I would have a wall big enough to do it justice. I love it...it's so simple...yet so beautiful...the colours are breathtaking.

At 60" across, it's big enough to occupy a wall all to itself, but we've found that this can work very well. Our entire dining room wall is filled by "Al Fresco - Between the Water and the Sky", without the painting dominating the space too much. It helps that both Al Fresco and Modern Romance use a softer color palette than some of Ali's smaller pieces.

I'll try and get Modern Romance hung on our wall over the weekend and get a photo of it to give a better sense of scale...
