Need help with Christmas gift
I tried to order some food goodies for Christmas through Tesco for the in-laws. Tesco won't accept a US issued CC for payment. Can anyone recommend a site that does Christmas goodies, accepts US cards and will deliver. Doesn't need to be before Christmas, as we know what the weather is like there at the moment. Thanks.

Re: Need help with Christmas gift
I think Fortnum & Masons might. Their FAQs talk about what exchange rate will be used when paying with an overseas credit card.

Re: Need help with Christmas gift
Does it say explicitly that they wont accept an overseas card? If not, fudge the address info if the fields aren't quite right for a US address and see what happens.

Re: Need help with Christmas gift
Amazon certainly allows you to order on the UK site with a US card/address. I have also ordered from M & S in the past, and have used a number of UK places that sell things like handmade chocolates (just Google).
I recently ran into a problem trying to order kids' clothes from Next on the UK site-- it started off demanding a UK phone number and went downhill from there. I tried to fudge it with my sister's phone no/address, but your credit card had to be registered at the address you put down as yours on the order form, so that was the end of that. Then I asked the US site if I could order with them and have items delivered in the UK. They said, sure, have them sent to yourself and then ship them . . . |
Re: Need help with Christmas gift
I tried M&S. They're not accepting any more orders for delivery to Scotland until after Christmas. BGR. Then they won't have what I wanted to order in. BGR. I will have to resort to a gift card then, and I don't like giving gift cards. I knew the weather wasn't good, but I didn't know Scotland had shut down until after Christmas. Bah humbug.:frown:

I ordered from here a couple of weeks ago, and paid with my US card. www.britishcornershop.co.uk |
Re: Need help with Christmas gift
Thanks guys, especially Nettlebed for the Amazon suggestion. Panic over. It won't get there until after Christmas, but the in-laws knew that. At least it will get there before New Year:fingerscrossed:
