Nebraska wait time...

My I-751, petition to remove condition on residence, was received on March 9, 2007. Unfortunately, I'm in Ohio and my petition went to the vast pit of despair known as the Nebraska Service Center.

I received the letter extending my first, 2-year green card for one year, effective March 9, 2007. I've been eagerly watching the processing times for I-751 at the Nebraska SC. I checked it last week and was happy to see it was on February 20, 2007, applicants. However, I checked it yesterday, and now it is showing November 2006 applicants!

I'm in a panic. As of March 9, I will have nothing to show my employer that I'm entitled to work, and nothing to show at the border to cross back home into Canada.

Don't worry. The processing dates tend to jump around like that. They aren't highly reliable. Your employer should not be double checking your status anyway, so you're OK there. And if you need to travel beyond the date of your extension letter, you can make an Infopass appointment to get an I-551 stamp in your passport.

Best Wishes,
Rene

Please don't panic, nothing will change for you on March 9 except international travel.
Make an InfoPass appointment to your District Office to inquire about your case and to get an I-551 stamp in your passport. The stamp will be the ongoing evidence of status you need (instead of your Green Card).

As Rene said, but it bears repeating; Your employer does NOT need to reverify your status if you presented a Green Card when hired. In fact, they are not allowed to (but this doesn't stop them from trying).
If you have a no-legend Social Security card and driver's license, you can present those if applying for a new job.

For travel to Canada (mostly for return to the US) you'll want that PR stamp for safety.

Amywen,

when did you conditional GC expire? The NOA extends your status for 1 year from the date of expiration of your card, not from the date when your app. was received.

Like you, I'm still waiting for my 10 year GC (filed i-751 in Feb. 2007), so you aren't alone :)
