My Husband Is Running in the London Marathon 22 April!
I've been holding the fort ie. bailing out our flooded basement whilst my husband Pete has been in London to prepare for the London Marathon tomorrow Sunday 22nd April.
He is not going 'solo' this time (he did when he ran in the NY marathon in 2005) but running as part of his employer's group (the British news agency, Reuters) and to raise money for the UK charity "Childline".
Conditions won't be so great for marathon runners, it will be warm and humid, plus the London streets are narrow and runners more compressed with little room to spread out or overtake slower runners. How anyone can even think about running for 26.2 miles is totally beyond me!
Here's the official site and if anyone would like to make a contribution, no matter how small, Pete would really appreciate it (and so would the beneficial charity, Childline).
Pete would love to receive any messages of support, do post here if you'd like to send one! GO PETE!!

This was Pete's first (and only marathon)

Hoep they both do great!

Woo Hoo!
Just got a phone call from my husband Pete:
He's just completed the London marathon in 3 hours 39 mins....3 minutes faster than when in he finished in the NYC marathon in 2005 and he is now 46 years old!
He's on a ship on the Thames with all the other Childline runners who are coming in at various intervals - he was one of the first runners to arrive.
Our daughter, her boyfriend and Pete's twin brother and children are on board to greet him too. He's sounding really upbeat and happy and has just had a massage. It's a beautiful sunny day over there and he said it was very hot on the trail and he has a sunburnt head as his cap fell off after 12 miles.
I'm very proud of him and I just wish I was there to give him a big hug and a kiss.....will have to wait until he arrives at Newark airport on Tuesday!

Well done! That's a great time
My Uncle still runs London and NY when he can, not in those times tho, although he is a tad older.
Any estimates on the fund raising so far?

How did he do?
I don't think I've heard of Ocean FM - what frequency is it on? I live approx 18 miles west of Manhatten, is it a Jersey Shore station or Long Island?
