Your double vote just makes up for one of the dead voters.

Just because Jake isn't with us anymore doesn't mean he shouldn't be allowed vote absentee. We know how he always voted and how concerned he was to make sure the right guy got to win office - so, he got a little help, so what?.

I was just surprised they had democratic senators to begin with and for that long of a period. It was always made out they were rural conservative back woods folks.

At least the polling seems to have been correct, last election here the opposing party went into the election well ahead in the polls, and then the sitting government won by a landslide, it was amusing watching the pollsters on TV trying to explain how they got it so wrong.

A Kleagle is an officer of the Ku Klux Klan whose main role is to recruit new members, and Robert Byrd was one. Another rural, conservative folksie kinda guy.

Robert Byrd, former senior senator in the United States Senate from West Virginia, though he had later disavowed any connection with the Ku Klux Klan, while admitting that it was his decision to join the Ku Klux Klan that started his career in politics. Robert Byrd, aka "The conscience of the Senate."

Robert Byrd was the only Dixicrat that I can think of that remained with the democratic party. Therefore even though he probably had more in common with conservative republicans (military, religion, states rights, and anti civil rights), he remained a democrat since West Virginia was a pretty poor state and needed federal government help. All of the other Dixcrats decided the "hell with federal help" and went to a party that had open arms and changed the republican party to be more like the Dixicrats.

OK, the results are in and the Republicans now control both houses.

So, is it the sense of the contributors to this thread that Obama becomes the Scorched Earth President, vetoing everything that comes to his desk that doesn't comport with his ideology, or is he going to be a triangulator and deal maker like Clinton?

I'm concerned that reports trickling out of the WH describe him as being irritated by the results and telling his intimates that he doesn't consider this to be a repudiation of him and his policies, so I vote Scorched Earth.

What a surprise. Obama has lived in constant denial since taking office. If he wasn't black, he'd go down as one of the most ineffective President's in living memory.

Well, it takes two to tango.

I feel Obama, sadly, will still be ideologically driven.

I feel the Republicans, when they're not ripping themselves apart in civil war will be doing as much as they can to deliberately undermine Obama rather than giving a damn about about the general citizenry

Regardless of last night's results, with such low turn out, the Republicans haven't really changed. It will be interesting to see which faction dominates going into 2016.

Stocking up on popcorn...I'm glad I have dual citizenship.

McConnell unveils plan to dismantle ObamaCare | TheHill

Yeah but it seems to work in his home state of KY so it can stay there?

McConnell suggested during his reelection race that Kentucky's website for purchasing insurance, Kentucky Kynect, could stay even if the healthcare law is rolled back.
