Default Mouth Massacre!!!

Back I go to the dentist for my second lop of whatever-the-hell-he-was-doing-in-there.

I think he was in a hurry this time, since once we'd established which side of the mouth to work on (he wanted to do the left - I told him in no uncertain terms that the left had been done last time, that you very much) he jabbed a needle into my jaw and half my face melted like Mr Fantastic in the Fantastic Four.

I made a nurse blush because after she'd been digging around for so long the Novacain was wearing off - and tears were streaming down my cheeks.

"No woman's made me cry since High School!"*

Eventually it was all finished and now I have to go back for a relitively painless polishing - rendering my gnashers gleaming white and truly American.

So verdict:

1: Dentist saw me at 7pm on a Monday night, which fitted into my work schedule. - BETTER THAN UK.
2: Dentist saw me at all - BETTER THAN UK.
3: Overall cost to me - $153 - BETTER THAN UK (NHS costs, assuming I had a dentist, would have been £103.30)
4: Abundent free shit from the dentist (oral B toothbrush, paste, floss, sulcur brush) BETTER THAN UK (Seriously, they give me a lollipop in the UK? After they just told me to lay off the sugar? WHAT GIVES???)
5: Cuteness of nurses - BETTER THAN THE UK.
6: About to Novocain and scrape the same side of my mouth a second time - WORSE THAN THE UK.

There we go, for better or for worse, my dental experiences.

I can understand now why people don't want to go to the dentist! It's not fun!

I actually did chew half the side of my cheek off last time. The dentist gave me some stuff for it.

Yesterday I stuck to a liquid diet - although because of a novacain I didn't taste it!

I might as well have been drinking lite beer.

My favourite experience was going for an implant, having my gums cut from side to side and the dentist digging in them for 2 whole hours before he realised that I had part of the root of the tooth he had extracted a few months before and therefore a big infection, so obviously no implant that time.. I looked like someone out of a horror movie for 2 weeks after that and I got to get through it again a few months later.. the joys of going to the dentist, uh? who wouldn't want to visit them regularly ..

I have an appointment for me and the missus at my old dentist on Tuesday next week - no waiting, cheaper than dentist here for a checkup + clean and polish.

Dentist is really looking forward to poking around in an American mouth, so he told my dad last week

I enjoy going to the dentist. He always tells me what nice teeth I have, and I occasionally fall asleep when the nurse cleans and sandblasts my teeth. I find it quite soothing, like a massage, despite the blood and bits of gum which get stuck to the bib (she's thorough). I'm not joking here, honestly. How weird is that?

I don't mind the dentists myself. Tho I now have a small cavity, we'll see how this fellow does (haven't had a filling from this dentist yet).

I actually do find cleaning relaxing, it doesn't bother me at all.

I also have an implant, which while not something I'd do for entertainment, was nothing horrendous at all.

I suppose dentists are like everyone else - some better than others.

How can you comment whether it was better or worse than a UK dental appointment and even quote the UK dental appointment price when in your previous dental thread.......you said you hadnt been TO A FUCKING DENTIST IN YEARS???
