Not quite as painful as it could be. At least we are used to looking a 70's cop shows from the US.

Cool, looking forward to it - the UK version was great, looks like they have pretty much directly transplanted the script and characters, so will be interesting to see the US take on it.

Me either. When I first heard about it, I thought the only way they could do this was to make it like Streets of San Francisco or Starsky & Hutch. Looks like that's exactly what they did, right down to the sets, street scenes and over the top funky music. What they have to hold onto, though, is that it's 1972, and everything I just saw looks more like 1975/1976. If they can't keep the authenticity down, it just won't work, but I'm willing to give it a shot. If it's crap, I still have my Brit DVDs to keep me happy.
edit: And I love the split screen thing. I know 24 has done this to death, but it's cool and fun, and totally in keeping with the style of the show.

Has anyone seen the "3rd Series" of LOM...Ashes to Ashes? Set in the eighties, big shoulder pads, Audi Quattro and Yuppies to remind you how lucky you are that time only goes forward.

Much as I love Colm Meaney there can be only 1 Gene Hunt - no-one will be able to handle the one-liners like Philip Glenister.
And they won't be able to rip off the Trumpton Episode (pure class by the way) - the US audience won't get it.
