Maybe it's because I'm looking at it on a phone, but I can only see one hole. I can see what I assume is the sump, but the top right of the picture and a diagonal swath down to the bottom left is inky-black with no signs of torn, punctured, fractured, beaten, unfastened, or burst type hole damage. What am I missing? .... Because any further "it's obvious/ you're looking in the wrong place" type comments aren't going to help me see something that isn't obvious in the image I am looking at.

There's a broken bit in the casting, just to the upper left of the two pan bolts near the middle. Hard to see in a little pic.

There is about an 1" hole in the engine block. Where a piston broke it.
