Similar story here, 98 M Roadster. just under 100k miles. Been pretty stress free apart from maintenance items.
But, I do carry out all my own repairs, so that helps.

My 2012 Volt, that's a different story. way above my skill level.

And it had not only a clean CarFax, but also got a totally clean bill of heath from a local non-franchise BMW specialist who I asked to look over it thoroughly for me - everything is 100% in working order. I have put about 3,000 miles on it, and it is still working perfectly.

That's looking well. Also looks like a lovely warm day. I miss those

I also got a new motor while I was on sabbatical, or at least on my way back from it. Posted elsewhere at the time, but I haven't looked in on this thread for a while so why not add it here too? I went in completely the other direction than you did, but this was definitely needed for my new position at work and the last 3 or 4 snow storms I've had to drive around in at all hours of the day to check in on my guys have proven that very well. It is not as clean as this right now, alas, but when temps warm up again I'll take care of that:

Nice truck, but I personally really don't like the front end of those Silverados.

The new EV they showed the other day liked really nice. Too bad it'll be $105k

I don't really notice too much difference between the various front ends really, but I do like that the 'face' of mine isn't as aggressive looking as some I've seen floating around, and I do prefer the current facelift vs the older ones. I had also looked at a Colorado but it really didn't feel too much of an upgrade inside over my sedan. Which is a story in itself, as I had only just bought a new Malibu in March of last year, before I got promoted in work and the need for something with a bit more clearance was needed, so I traded in (and they listed it used with nearly 12,000 miles on it for a grand more than I paid for it ...). Was a great car but can you imagine trying to drive in 2" or more of unplowed snow in this:

Look how nice and warm it was back in April . Anyway, needs must and everything and honestly I'm going to need something that can handle all the mileage I'm going to have to put on it checking jobs and by all accounts I should be able to get at least 200,000 on the truck so even though I had a minor panic attack when I saw the monthly payment, after my wife talked me off the ledge it really did make sense.

The new EV looked interesting but I would have that battery flat with half a day's driving to sites

OK, so yeah, you went the opposite way, and for the mirror image of our reasons - we were reaching the conclusion that having a truck, Mustang, and Accord coupé, wasn't sustainable as it was getting difficult to fit "little" Miss P in the back seat of anything other than the truck, and using the truck to transport little Miss P around if her friends came over wasn't ideal either, and Mrs P had been pushing to get an SUV for several years. So in the end what we have is very comfortable for four people and not bad for five (such as when the in-laws visit), but is probably the least SUV-y SUV you can find, and by reputation is pretty terrible for off-road use, but that's fine because I have no intention of taking it off-road anyway. What it does do though is handle very nicely on-road, with its permanent 4wd drive train hooked up to a V8 with twin turbos, it is very smooth, very quite, and goes like stink! Not that this means much to most Americans but what we bought is actually a giant hot hatch, not really an SUV.

Trust me, if I wasn't heavily subsidized for using my own vehicle, and if I didn't have access to fill up at the yard, this wouldn't be sustainable either

What you have seems to be an M5 with more room inside it, then.

Very close to that yes. .... And the original owner bought it with what I would call a "vanity upgrade" - the steering wheel and the road wheels all have MSport badges on them (the "package" came with a couple of other things too, that I don't now recall and weren't particularly significant), which doesn't add any value other than the "Oooh look! MSport badges!" factor.

I would argue that it's still adding value, but just a more intangible kind.

If it helps you enjoy it that little bit more, it's still valuable.

True, but MSport badging doesn't make it an X5M - I think it's like finding an XR3i badge and sticking it on the back of your 1.3 Escort

I would 100% have done that, by the way. Hopefully it would have been a 1.6 though but I think we both know it wouldn't.

Yep, makes you feel good but doesn't really add any extra oommpfff.

It's missing one of these. Not that mine really compares to a twin turbo V8.. But it's an old lady from 1998 so Ill give her a pass.

That's in good nick. A British car from the 60s with so little rust, how did you manage that

Nah, it's nice. If old slides from the time are to be believed, my da had one very similar to that in 1969.

Thanks. My dad bought it as a barn find from the South of France (dry climate) hence the condition.

My 2022 Merc (my wife hates that term!) came in, E-350 Sedan, Obsidian Black. It is marvelous! Perfect for the 80 miles I commute every day. This added to the GLE-350 2021 SUV we bought last year. Both worth the money!
