Should have jeep project done very soon. Just finished my spray can paint job. Just need to put hood and windshield back on and install bikini top.

Got my jeep project done, licensed and insured. Liability only 110 for six months and USAA let’s me put in storage for the off season six months for $20. Have driven about 75 miles and no problems.

My 7000lb Pacifica says it gets around 70 mpg, but that because 90% of the driving is done on electric only. Has been great for the school runs , gets up to 38 miles on a full charge, then I have gas as a backup. It's also very roomy for a minivan

Just the bikini top in the one photo. It’s mainly to be used in summer driving to town for lunch and errands.

Looks like it has a handy drain on the seat so you can take a whiz while on a long drive!

Those seats are super uncomfortable but good for open vehicle with frequent getting wet. To drive sitting in then for more than a few miles would be torture. They were very cheap however.

I'm really hoping that's an autocorrect error for "bimini" . I don't think your car has the right anatomy to need a bikini!

I did some checking and the Bikini named top is a trademark of Besttop which is a major maker of jeep tops. Not verified but Bimini is more applicable to a similar style top used on boats. The bikini name has become generic for minimal jeep tops.

Ah, so another bizarre adoption of the wrong word, then. A bit like "chase lounge" for "chaise longue," which I have long since given up worrying about even though it still makes my skin crawl. A bimini top is a generic term for a canvas roof that covers the top, but not the sides or back, of an open boat or car. For sure more widely used for boats than cars, but Citroen Mehari and Mini Moke owners would likely confirm. A bikini top is an item of women's clothing.

Oh well. Carry on: I could stand on my pedantry, but you're right - a quick google confirms that the Jeep owners' community appears to be strongly against me on this one.

I'm not sure I agree with the 'wrong' designation. The etymology of 'bikini' is apparently that it was named after the atom bomb island ... "1940s: named after Bikini, where an atom bomb was exploded in 1946 (because of the supposed ‘explosive’ effect created by the garment)." So ... that would appear to be a fairly loose association to begin with!

This looks amazing and that insurance rate is amazing. I need a 4 seat similar to this for my lake house. It has 2 garage bays so easy to keep it up there and no need for a roof. Would just take it out summer / fall for ice cream or joy ride for the kids… lucky it has no doors. I see the newer jeeps driving around here and it looks like they have had their doors stolen when they leave the top down.. I guess it’s better than finding your car on blocks with no wheels, at least you can still drive it without doors…

I assume that something like this is told old to qualify to list on TURO? , I think I could get renters on VRBO to add on a fun car rental and it would likely also be able to cover it’s cost like the property does.
