Let's talk about cars

Re: Let's talk about cars
After having my truck repaired after hail damage here in CO, they finally got round to assessing the Mrs' mini. They ended up totaling it and cutting us a check/cheque which would pay it off and give us about in $1100 in pocket money.
Not a bad result, I hate working on that car so might be a blessing in disguise to go get her something else

Yep already ready it, a fellow enthusiast has met the owner too.
Man I REALLY want one of those new ones, it's my dream car and at present I'm trying to convince myself I should get one as a reward for moving away from family & friends.

Well having driven a Jeep for 12 years listening to Pulaski telling me how unreliable they are one of our vehicles finally broke down. Mrs L was left stranded in the Lowes parking lot when her Toyota went tits up.
Nothing too serious just needed a new battery but the old one gave out with no warning at all.

Even less amusing was the total and utter failure of my alternator two weeks ago, which I had hoped to get rebuilt but my alternator man told me it had fried everything inside and only the rotor was undamaged. He believed the cause was down to said failed battery making the alternator work overtime ( my electrical knowledge is limited so I didn't question that, he is an old school alternator repairman rather than part of some capitalist, grab all you can, franchise store!).
Can't say that I was overly impressed considering that this is on a five year old vehicle with only a snot over 100k on the clock, this is not what I expect from a Toyota.
Can I get a similar mileage Jeep with a crew cab and 6 1/2' bed, pretty please (must be under $20k)????

Re: Let's talk about cars
I had to replace the battery on my 2 1/2 year old Nissan Altima, what a fackin liberty!!
Bought it new I've done 45,000 miles, mainly slamming up and down freeways to work and back, oil changed every 5 to 6k miles, tyres still good!
Guess I should be happy with that!!

I find batteries nowadays give no indication on up and coming failure. Always seems to happen in the summer for me. I wonder if it's to do with the increase in electronics put into modern cars
