My corvette has something called No Lift Shift. Basically press the gas down to the floor and change gear without lifting. The car senses the gear change and manages the throttle position for you.

I'm going to hazard a guess that that article wasn't aimed at people who have quite as high-tech (and pretty cool sounding too) car as that

Yep and it also has another feature called Automatic Rev Match. When changing down a gear it with blip the throttle for you to match the RPM's for the lower gear. These features make you think you can drive like Senna or Prost. A good and bad thing

Yeah, that's a double edged sword. It sounds like a lot of fun but I can also see the potential for a lot of tickets

Kind of looks like a Jack Russell there, too. Small, yippy, British (well, German ...), fast.

Not quite on cars topic, but just realized it's been 10 years since an old childhood friend died. He was quite a guy.

Sometimes you dont get a choice such as when staying in a downtown hotel in some cities where the hotel only has valet parking.

As for the other posters question every hotel I have worked at that offered valet service required the valets to drive a stick, one would be unlikely to find a valet who cant drive one.

Congrats on the new car Pulaski.

We are getting rid of our car, driving is too pricey these days with high cost of gas.

I have never used valet parking, and never would, even if I was driving an automatic. IMO valet parking is the ultimate in to§§pot snobbery.

I can't imagine a city with no alternative parking. I stayed in DC last year and was faced with hotel parking which was valet only, though my primary concern was they wanted $50/night! So I used parkingpanda.com, which is a sort of airbnb for parking spaces and found several alternatives, eventually only paying about half what the hotel wanted within walking distance of the hotel.
.... Congrats on the new car Pulaski.

We are getting rid of our car, insurance has gone up, gas is pricey and makes no economic sense to have a car.
Thank you. ..... Sorry to hear that you have had to get rid of yours.

Down where I am, they're more expensive new as they're usually brought in special and they're worthless second hand, so a bit of a bargain.

I see a fair few Honda's, VW's and Subie's around with manual.

They're not that popular in the snow though.

Else where, might be a completely different story.
