Honda apparently sells an Acura badged as an Accord in the UK, so there is no compable model to the US Accura. The VW Passat is also a totally different car from the one sold in Europe (the US model is also sold in China). VW also sells Mexican-built Golfs/Rabbits in the US, and they don't compare well to those built in Europe. And then FCD for mysterious reasons (actually it was made wider to accommodate Americans fat är§es ) decided to take an Alfa and completely rework it to make the utterly hideous Dodge Dart, which was poorly designed and poorly built, and which I hear has been discontinued.
I can never say enough good about British engineering and design. I think Ford motor company employed British designers and engineers in their Dagenham assembly plant which would account for the difference in quality and workmanship found in the Euro Fords.
My father owned a Ford Consul back in the 50s and later a Ford Zephyr both trouble free and good all round cars for their day.

In the 1970s the Zephyr name appeared again in the US this time under the Mercury label. Fortunately for me that was one Ford I never bought.

Ford went through a pretty mediocre period in the 1970s/80s early 90s. Even the Mustang at one time was reduced in appearance to something that looked like Elmer Fudd would drive. Happy to say that the Mustang has come back into it's own again

I'm still a huge fan of the XR3i. I remember my old man picking one up (after years of happy Lada ownership.... happy for him, nightmare for me). All black, dark interior, deep bucket seats and the cool clock in the roof. The differences between that car and the Lada were probably the biggest extremes in cars I've ever experienced even to this day LOL.

I friend of mine managed to roll his XR3i times in a field and just walked away with not a scratch.

XR4i and RS Cosworth were also notable cars.

I've never been in one, but there was always someone around town who had one and I just loved how they looked when I was a kid.

My dad did have Escorts, but it the highest spec he ever had was an LX

German-made North American version of the XR4i. I saw one real early on after I moved and thought it was the coolest thing ever that I saw a Sierra in the States . They did a version of the Mk.3 Scorpio as well; I've seen one of those out and about a few times.

There were more than notable. Phenomenal cars, especially the Cosworth. A mate of mine bought the sapphire Cosworth. The thing absolutely flew!!!!!!!!!!

I've never seen one over here, but they did crop up as a topic of conversation on another forum I use. I got the impression they weren't thought of that highly here.

I've only seen one or two, I don't know of anyone who has owned one or anything though.

It was still cool to see. To be honest, it was early enough in my time here that just seeing a manual transmission was interesting enough.

I preferred the lines of the MkII, which was the last one with its driving wheels at the right end.

A kid in town got done for speeding a couple days ago. What started out as a simple speeding ticket, turned into a OUI, as he was pissed as a skunk and had trouble getting out of the car.

Which then lead to the cop poking his head in the door. They found 5 pounds of weed in the back seat, a sports bag filled with stacks of $20 bills and a money counter.

Really hard to blag that as personal consumption

Much bigger issues than a mere speeding ticket too!

More of a RS Mexico fan, but maybe the wall idea killed that one.

There's a old chap up the hill that has a Lada. It obviously doesn't run and looks like shit.

He brought it over as a "fun" souvenir after doing a stint in Germany and some how won it in a bet and kept it back in the day.
