I had presumed it was so that the GT production company could pick up the tab without JC getting a tax bill.

Well, that too.

That being said they could probably have asked Amazon if they could do one episode on the Moon and got funding for it. Amazon are hyping the shit out of this show as well. Even the packing tape on an order I received over the weekend had 'Grand Tour starting Nov 18' all over it

That Porsche was a lovely car.

It's reminiscent of the Carrera GT, which I think is lovelier.

It's a great car. We had a few in during car week at my last job. We were under strict instructions not to get in them or start them up. Got to have a ride in a P1 though which was awesome. Still yet to see a LaFerrari out in the wild.

The new "Stig", is a massive knob.

Second episode was much better though, being reigned into an hour helped cut out the faff but the stuff in the tent was still a bit naff. And all that forced high jinks rubbish got tiring.

I thought it was crap. I ended up fast forwarding through about 75% of it. The Aston Martin was interesting but that was about it.

I just wondered why they were in South Africa, because aside from the 30 seconds they spent looking at the Sauber-Mercedes replica, there didn't seem to be much of any South African "content".

The pointless 'spinning' film was from SA. Also, the whole 'Grand Tour' element is supposed to be them going around the world.

We've seen Southern California and South Africa, and other locations to come include Nashville, Dubai, Rotterdam, Lapland, Stuttgard, Loch Ness and Whitby.

Ep2 was naff.

Take 3 guys, paid for their natural on-air chemistry, and completely script their entire show.

Round of applause Amazon!

It looked blue screened to me. They probably weren't any where near SA.

The replica, was pretty cool though.

Yep. Fake as hell.

Not loving this yet. It feels like a 30 minute show stretched out to an hour. basically 90% of the stuff in the tent needs to be shitcanned. The audience laugh track sounds suspiciously fake too.

Why they are forcing this so hard escapes me. Just let the 3 guys arse around and ditch all the too-heavily scripted nonsense.

I agree. I liked the first one, but the second was a step back, not a step forward.

I was kicking myself for missing the registration for the upcoming Nashville episode, but now I am not sure I would bother treking over there if I did have a ticket.

Now everybody thinks if you listen to Hothouse Flower's version of I can see clearly now, you must have heard it on TGTWas telling mates, I bought the Album on CD in the early 90s and still have it.

Oh and about the show...
Don't see what the fuss is about. It's contrived and the opening scene with all those cars escorting them in the desert and the crowd and the band is all a bit too much.
