Comparing the relative attractiveness of 4x4s is rather like asking which turd smells nicest.

It depends what went into the design (of the turd, I mean).

It's all relative I suppose, but I personally can't stand SUVs and trucks of any variety. Crossovers are a grey area but I suppose they're not minivans

Yep, SUV's and trucks totally suck, with the exception of the Ford Raptor. Only got to drive one briefly, but what a beast!!!

I quite like the current Ford trucks. But why do all their names sound like condoms?

Everyone has their bias, and mine has always been towards the sport sedan end of things.

Though I am also quite partial to a good old fashioned muscle car.

The Ford Durex would be a weird one

Not hard.

As much as we hate the idea of an Aston crossover, it will sell like hot cakes thus ensuring they stay solvent and can continue to make things like the DB11 and Vulcan.

That was my point, it would be hard not to. I could make something at home on the kitchen table, from egg boxes, toilet roll cores, and sticky-back plastic than that!

What makes that a 'crossover'? It reminds me of several hard-top convertibles, where the hard top disappears into the trunk area. Other than that, it looks like a 2-door sports car. To me, a 'crossover' is another name for 'small SUV', or 'SUV outline built like a car' (unibody construction).

I guess the Honda Crosstour is called a crossover, and that too has the sloping rear end (glorified 'station wagon'). I guess it's an imprecise category!

A crossover is a 4x4/SUV without a chassis, i.e. with unibody construction, making crossover-SUVs indistinguishable from minivans from a design/engineering perspective.

That isn't even CLOSE to my idea of a crossover.

And thus, by extension, one could say '... making crossover-SUVs indistinguishable from cars from a design/engineering perspective' (note the 4x4 designation clearly does not apply to minivans). I think the category needs better definitions!

I believe my Honda CR-V has all the characteristics of a 'crossover'. Looks more like a crossover than the Aston Martin, for sure!
