When I think of Lexus, I think of overpriced tat.

Stick a massive sail sized wing off the back should kill any sort of sensible image though

That's the Infiniti...Lexus is lovely, but it's something very old man with elbow patches who can't climb into a Range Rover about it.

The problem with a Lexus is that it isn't a great advantage over a standard Toyota. I had a Camry, which I didn't see any point upgrading from.

I had to return my leased Toyota to a Lexus garage this week, the place was incredible. The receptionist escorted me over to the complimentary cafe while the guy I needed to see became available. While waiting I tucked into a breakfast pastry (or 2), a few coffees and a milkshake, while looking at their jewelry shop. They've got a childcare service there too in case you need it. If I had the cash I'd buy a Lexus in a heatbeat

That's the best non sequitur I've seen all day.

How does any of that make it a good car?

A breakfast pastry does have a certain allure...

Well the pastry is free thus distracting you from the fact you just bought an overpriced Toyota.

(at least you didn't buy a Scion)

Weren't Scions just remarketed Diahatsus anyway?

Not sorry to see them gone. It's only been a brand since 2002 anyway. The iconic brands that went by the wayside during the recession (and, in the case of Oldsmobile, before it) would be missed a lot more.

New one yes, but get one that's a few years old with under 35K on the clock and it's a bargain.

Get a hell of a lot more car than a dull Camry, that someone else has taken a $35K kick in the ball depreciation on and it's not a bad deal. Fully loaded, it's even cheaper than a brand new Camry.

Maybe that used car was traded in for a very good reason?
I do enjoy the pastries and the great coffee at our local BMW dealer. That, and having free services on the car until the service period and the warranty run out...which is when I trade it in.

A Lexus is basically just a high end Camry but with some bells and whistles added, a touch here and there to the appearance and a whole lot more added to the sticker price

My Honda dealer provides all the knick knacks you mention above plus they'll drive you home and pick you up when the car is ready

They're all going for that money in my area. No rear wheel drive ones mind, but there you go.

It was the same with our Saab's and it's the same with Audi's, Aucura's, Infiniti's, BMW's and Range Rovers in the area.

They all massively drop in value between year 2-4 and then level out for a few years.

I assume we have all seen the news that Matt LeBlanc (Joey from friends) has been confirmed as a TG presenter. This is hilarious! He's done a few TG appearances now, and has always been as wooden as hell. Finally, a reason for me not to bother watching it!
