It's been done before, basically a Cherokee pick-up.

Hope it's less flimsy than some of their other stuff. Doesn't look bad though. In an Action Man kind of way.

The only thing that'll ever get attached that are ridiculously large wheels and a Monster logo.

That one wouldn't be so bad.

Suppose it doesn't help that I hate trucks and (most) Jeeps so my bias is extreme.

I didn't see this mentioned, apologies if missed. California isn't happy with VW's recall plan.

Meh. California hasn't been happy since Ponch was last on TV.

I just noticed, that little army truck I posted a pic of has a Mustang rear axle.

The Camaro has independent rear suspension except the COPO version, which has a solid rear axle. Evidently solid rear is better for drag racing.

That was always Ford's argument. I never thought it made sense - if Ford had wanted to they could have sold a solid rear axle as an option, rather than selling them all (except the Cobra) with a solid rear axle on the off chance that one person in 1,000 wanted to take it drag racing.

I always remember the time, shortly after I bought it, that I dropped a rear wheel into a drain grate on the parkways just north of NYC and the whole rear twitched! I love my Mustang, but the solid rear axle is one of its least endearing features.

Speaking of Jeeps. Why the fck would you waste a Hellcat engine by putting it in a Grand Cherokee?

That is true. A solid rear axle handles torque better than an irs. However, we all know Ford stuck it on for cost LOL. However, the axle handles corners fine unless the roads are bad. The roads by me are mostly pretty good, and mine handles corners far better than I expected it would.

The issue with that is that the flooring, heelboard and boot/trunk are radically different between a like axle setup and an IRS, so the cost involved in having tooling for the two setups would be prohibitive.

But yes, it was a cost based decision. the 'New' mustang is IRS.
