Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is fast approaching which means there will be some serious automotive porn in town for the next 10 days or so. Heard a radio ad saying Sir Jackie Stewart is holding a free talk down the road on Thursday evening, seriously debating bunking off work to attend.

I don't understand why someone (Tony Stewart) worth $70 million racing NASCA would be racing dirt track.

Same reason as most other drivers: it's a hobby. Most drivers never rise up the ranks to the elite classes of racing, they do it because they enjoy it, and do does Tony.

He's something of a throwback to the 1960's and before when men raced for fun, and the top names still known today for winning races and championships would race anything they could get their hands on that had an engine. So Stirling Moss engaged in road racing, famously winning the Mille Miglia in Italy averaging over 100mph over the 1,000 mile road course, and John Surtees who is the only man to have won world championships on motorbikes as well as F1. And they were far from the only ones to race in different disciplines.

I drove a Ford Focus hatchback today. Loved it A lot easier to drive than my dads F150, and I can push the gas and hear it go without suddenly speeding

I saw that video earlier...it's pretty shocking stuff...he definitely, deliberately turned into the other chap, there's no way he can say it was a accident. That was murder without a doubt.

Some of the cars were illegal imports but others were not.
It appears the Jaguar Land Rover North America had given wrong information to Homeland Security regarding the de-coding of the VIN numbers.
Some of the Rovers have now been returned to their owners.

Your analysis, brief as it is, is flawed. Those 1000hp sprint cars on a dirt track are extremely twitchy. Should Tony have been as close? Probably not, nor should he have revved the engine, but then the other driver shouldn't have run out onto the track- it's like being a pedestrian in the median of an interstate, no driver would be convicted of murder if they hit the pedestrian.

Tragic all round, for sure, but I don't think there'll be any charges brought, though I expect a civil suit will be filed by the dead driver's parents, which will be settled out of court.

FIL was saying where he works, the local fuel supply where they're based has finally been getting diesel all year round for the last year and a bit, rather than as a summer seasonal for the petrol stations, so they've just bought their first couple of diesel trucks.

Also, new person at work when asked to move the new rig out of the way, backed into, then over a rock and rolled the rig over into a ditch. The new rig was about a month old and a half million bucks that the insurance is saying a right off now - cracked framed, crushed crane, crushed slasher

If it had a proper pillion I think it'd be better, maybe there's a touring package with better passenger accommodation?

You ride a bike then complain it isn't comfortable? It'd be like me complaining that my Mustang doesn't have as much room as my truck for hauling stuff.

There are two big problems, and one is that it doesnt have a top box and touring package but will be available next May. The other problem is there is no cruise control and on long trips it is a necessity. You can have one put on but it is costly.

Still weighing up all the extras to see if it is worthwhile. It is tasty though....and I do like Triumph
