Ah, yes the past when American cars had big fins, the Porsche looked like an upside down bath tub, the BMW was a box, and European performance cars were in the garage more than they were on the road. Those were the glory days.

Jaws of life.
.... Would explain it being on the back of the truck...but it's not that high of a motor, which begs the question

The truck did have a couple of classic cars too that looked like needing a little TLC, a Triumph, a couple MG's and a Alfa...so it was weird seeing a new car in the middle.
The mini was probably heading for a new body shell, it's probably worth someone's time to do that.

Back when a car wasn't just transportation, it was a hobby too!

Yeah, you're probably right on both counts.

Couldn't see the other side so didn't know if it had been wrecked....on the side I saw, it looked fine...minus the missing roof where it looked like it had driven underneath a picnic table

Anyway, airport free car show is supposed to be doing the hotrod and muscle cars, but as we've just had a massive, albeit very short thunder storm, I'm doubting to many people would bring their cars to show, so might be a bit poo.

I've heard of emergency rescue crews (in the US) refusing to move an injured person (injured before they got into the car) out of an undamaged car without chopping the roof off. The moral is "never try to do someone with an injury a favour by giving them a lift to the A&E", it can backfire in a very ugly way!

Huh? What? This is thread about cars. Go back and reread what I said replacing "A&E" with "hospital". ..... Somebody with a back injury was given a lift to the urgent care unit, but because of his injury the staff had the fire department come and snip the roof off the car. I have no idea who paid for the damage, though I suspect in tbe first instance it was the car owners insurance and they may have in turn gone after other parties to chip in. .... Perhaps even the injured party's medical insurance?
