A quick round up of recent sightings in my neck of the woods:

A couple of weeks ago I saw a very nice-looking restored cream-coloured MGB roadster with red leather seats. It was on the road, so I didn't get a chance to examine it closer, but it was a pre-74 chrome bumper model.

Last week I saw a yellow Lotus Exige, with the NC tag "ON RAILS".

And this morning an orange-red Triumph Spitfire passed me at some traffic lights, a fairly late one I'd say but it wasn't hanging around and soon disappeared (literally) leaving a cloud of smoke!

I love the shape of the Spitfire but they rust like anything. Would still make my dream garage though!

Not if you get a good one that soaks itself in oil whenever you take it out.

Well the one I saw today was burning its oil fairly rapidly.

Some of them did come from the factory with a Total Loss Sacrificial Oil-Over-Exhaust Lubrication System, which could have the effect of making them a little smoky.

There was a standard saying when i had the Lotus... Usually delivered when you got to the dealer/garage with a concern over a rattle or general misbehaviour.

TADTS - They all do that sir

It just creates a motorist exceptionally in tune with the whines, grumbles and wheezes of the car combined with an innate acceptance and mild paranoia! Joys of owning a classic/niche vehicle.

On the boo front, battery on the car needed to be jumped this morning and again this evening.

It's not even 18 months old...it's got a 3 year free replacement, but we got it up in Maine and don't have the receipt so that might be fun....that is if it's the battery that's the issue.

Car only got serviced a couple weeks back too.

But on the cool front...there's a very nice looking Triumph Spitfire for sale locally that's got a Union Jack flag painted on the roof.

Removable hard top? Surely it's not a GT6?

Removable top indeed....I didn't get close enough to look up the details though as I was winging past it.

Bob - hopefully it's just the battery and not the alternator
