We have this one but it's no longer available. But it's lasted us a good few years.

GE 1.7L Electric Kettle - Walmart.com

Don't really see any kettles from GE anymore.

GE got out of domestic appliances entirely - sold their white-goods business to the Chinese.

Well they aren't going to last indefinitely but in August, 2013 I posted that we were using this one by Hamilton Beach. Guess what it is still going strong and I use it all day, every day. It was a few years old when I originally posted so add another 3 years to that. This particular model has been discontinued BTW.

I have one similar to this one:
https://www.amazon.com/DeLonghi-DK35...ettle+delonghi

I've been using it several times a day for about ten years without issue.

I would say yes my first 2 over here were crap (one was a Bodum, the other I can't remember the make) and I even bought a stove top kettle, but then a friend recommended hers - Hamilton Beach 40893 on Amazon, she has red, I have stainless. It's been going strong since December 2013!!

I know it isn't popular with some BE-er's, not sure why, but Consumer Reports this month has a piece on kettles. My FIL buys me a subscription every year, and I kinda like it.

Amusing. That's exactly what I linked above (the red one).

I've had the same problem. My last 2 kettles failed due to a problem with the electrical contact between the base that the kettle sits on and the kettle itself, resulting I expect from repeated connect/disconnect between the kettle and the base. I looked around for the type of kettle I used to have where there's no base and the wire plugs into the kettle so you don't disconnect when using the kettle, but I couldn't find one, so I had to buy another one with a base. The manufacturers must make more money this way, but millions of kettles being constantly dumped in landfills can't be good for the environment.

I've just had a look at our kettle, and it's a Hamilton Beach, too, with one of those wretched bases. It looks fragile, but so far so good. We generally buy whatever's going cheap (US$20 or so), and reckon it will last a couple of years. We do the same with toasters.

Hamilton Beach is getting a lot of thumbs up, and they are cheap.

LOL, I didn't go through and open all the attachments. $30 on Amazon and it's a good pourer too :-)

Israelis like instant coffee

Americans like Mr. Coffee (or his other drip coffee cousins.)

I would hope that they would give you one of these drip coffee machines when they issue you green cards -- how else are we going to test your loyalty?

The whole point of having Lipton is to compel you to give up your old ways. Take the hint.
