it's worth noting that event the highest estimates put the muslim population of the UK at about 4% of the total. Compare with the Hispanic ppulation of the USA at around 15% currently.

I was aware that tens of thousands of asians were actively kicked out of neighbouring Uganda by Idi Amin, but wasn't aware that asians had suffered significant discrimination in Kenya.

I believe that was the overall situation; Kenya effectively deported all Pakistani Immigrants (or perhaps only those with, or having access to, UK Passports - I don't know all the details). Soon after, I believe Idi Amin did the same in Uganda. This resulted in a flood of unwilling immigrants in the UK.

Well, in some ways, that demonstrates the problem. There aren't "that many", but those that are there have integrated so poorly (fault on both sides) that it has led to issues.

But also, while there may only be 4% total, there are pockets in the North and North West (where I hail from) were the percentage is much higher. From this page, the 4% overall is confirmed, and also it mentions that:
Slough has 28%; Pendle 14%; Luton 18%; Bradford 20%; Blackburn 21%; Birmingham 19%; Batley 30%.

Again, it's not the overall numbers, though - it's the willingness to integrate that is key.
