Smile Kate & William - Baby Announcement :)

I've just walked in the door and put on LBC 97.3FM news from London on my iPad (via the TuneIn App).

St. James's Palace has just announced that Kate and William are expecting a baby. She was admitted to hospital this morning with acute morning sickness and expected to stay there for a few more days.

Ooooh - I wonder what it's name will be? I reckon it will be a girl

As a recent new parent myself, I have begun dreading celebrity baby announcements. I'd hate it if they give their spawn the same name as my child.

I'm not big on this stuff, but that's great news for them. I think the Monarchy is in very safe hands! Prince W. seems like such a genuinely nice bloke too.

It is good news and I am pleased for them, but it's a shame she couldn't be allowed to wait until past the 12 week stage and at least gotten over the severe morning sickness she currently has. Regular people get the chance to tell people when they want to but not if you're in the public eye.

Agree.

Apparently her current admission is her third for hyperemesis gravidarum

Some relief at the palace in that it moves the cuckoo in the nest one place further from the crown.

Perhaps they had to announce it before 12 weeks to stop the press trying to find out? I always think people should wait until their first scan is over and done with and past 12 weeks.

So the articles linked say Kate's going to stay in hospital a "few days", so it does indeed sound like very severe morning sickness...or perhaps something more serious that the Palace is trying to downplay? I hope the latter is not true, but I wonder....

I had pretty bad morning sickness with my first pregnancy long ago, but my doctor didn't put me in hospital till tests showed serious blood sugar test results. I was fine after a week of hospital bed rest, and delivered normally in every way with no problems. So I wonder if test results are worrying the royal OB/gyn ATM? Hope she's well soon. Maybe she needs to take it easy.

Ah, this explains it then. Poor girl. Hope she can weather it & deliver OK.

The news on Radio 2 said the news was announced because she had to go into hospital, otherwise they would have waited until later. It wouldn't have taken long for the Press to find out she was in hospital so the speculation on why she was in hospital would have been immense had they not nipped it in the bud early on.

Wonder if that is the result from when they were photographed on a French balcony.

I had HG with my first pregnancy, and was hospitalised several times, with no test results. I lost 2 stone, vomited on average 10 times a day until I delivered, and was severely dehydrated as I couldn't even keep water down.

Thankfully, the end result was well and truly worth it!

Poor Kate has my sympathy, but it's wonderful news for them and the UK.

and the baby will be next in line after Wills, no mater whether it's a boy or girl. Gone is the law that the first born son will inherit, whether or not he is the first born. The law was changed only a few months ago.
