Sometimes the deals that come out are better, sometimes they are worse but they are still worth looking at. While we were trying to figure out best deal for DH to go over for a week in December, Continental came out with a sale price that knocked off a bit.

I'm glad you are all set and were able to plan ahead. Now, if the weather just cooperates.............heard it's pretty chilly over there right now.

i have always found booking car rental through BA to be considerably more expensive that going direct with Avis - who have been super value over the last couple of years.

Do you use a Corp discount with Avis? I always find them to be one of the most expensive.

In my experience domestically for my clients, they are usually among the most expensive (along with Hertz), even using a corporate discount. I've used a company called Auto Europe for years overseas. They have no special affiliation with any one car company, just get you the best deal they can, with no penalty for cancelling the reservation. Most of the time they seem to get the best deal with Europ car.

Hi Cindy
I agree. Godfrey Davis, ridiculous price. I booked Alamo, cheapest I found. This time. Each time changes.

No just on the website - with the BA executive club you get a 10% discount, plus I dont take any insurance (which is a big chunk!) Last time home I got 10 days in a Peugeot 407 for about $350 - which I thought was pretty good.

To be honest my original point was that Avis direct is usually much cheaper than the Avis offers on the BA website.

I stopped shopping round for prices a while ago - I had really poor service in the UK with Hertz so always use Avis - I have preferred (no charge or minimum usuage) and you can just pick up your car with no paperwork - even in the UK at most places. So the service makes it worth it for me!

Godfrey Davis is contract hire not rental - or at least was - the brand no longer exists as they trade under Lex Vehicle Leasing now.

Avis dont even take a credit card when you book - so if you dont show - no fee!
