Excellent - just think, you'll be able to vote for Hilary Clinton or Jeb Bush in 2016

He's called Jeb - that's not a real name

American politics needs a break from the Bush family dynasty. Simple as that. Same goes for the Clinton's and the Kennedy's.

Indeed. If Hilary or Jeb Bush get in next time that'll mean come 2020 only 8 of the previous 32 years will have had a President with a surname that's not Bush or Clinton.

Wouldn't feel terribly republican, would it?

From 1989 until 2009 we had Yale Graduates in the White House. Mr. Obama graduated from Columbia undergraduate and Harvard Law School.

Jeb would be a break from the Ivy League. [BTW, the entire Supreme Court attended either Yale Law or Harvard Law.]

I have no problem with graduates of a specific university consistently running the country. Just look at the amount of PM's the University of Oxford has produced.

Having a dynastic family, such as the Bush's, is more akin to a Royal Family - I thought the 'merkins ditched the Crown?

So? The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom is rammed full of Oxbridge graduates. In fact nearly every Permanent Secretary is an Oxbridge graduate. Smart people go to top universities (in the UK at least, the US allows you to buy your way in).

I have only been eligible to vote since GW first election, so there has not been anyone running for president whom I liked or voted for, but won't Hillary be pretty close to the age John Mccain was when he ran against Obama, and all the democrats said he was too old?

Reagan was the same age as Hilary will be when the next election comes round, and he was probably the best POTUSA post WWII.

That said, Hilary is no Ronald Reagan, that's for sure. She's Lady MacBeth personified.

There is a great divide between those who have the money to run and those who have the intelligence to do the job (notably those intelligent enough to do the job tend to be intelligent enough not to want it!).

I heard on npr the other day that freshman congressman get given the plum committee jobs so they can rake in all the lobby money for their re-election campaign.

In the end it has little to do with ability to do the job or performance in the job. Just money.

I know he was, but in 2008 the democrats made a huge issue of McCain being too old, and since Hillary will be roughly the same age, they should obviously believe the same.

I'd like to see someone unknown for the most part come out of the woods and be able to run and win, but that will never happen.

As a voter, I am more concerned about my congress person and senator then president.

McCain has health issues though, doesn't he? Plus he looks frail, Hilary doesn't - yet. Though I hear she's been unwell recently?

Jeb was Governor when I arrived in FL, and compared to GW as President, and Crist and the current bloke as Governor, Jeb rocked!

I'm not a Republican, but I might be inclined to vote for Jeb over Hilary for my first attempt, if those are the choices.
