Where and what Christmas goodies have you seen? |
Re: It's official...Christmas is around the corner

I can't wait for winter. I hate this constant high 80's, low 90s heat!

They had the Christmas trees etc all set up in Kohl's when I was in there last week. Good thing I like Christmas, I suppose

Christmas? Worse than that, supermarkets here are already gearing up for Pancake Tuesday / Mardi Gras!
Got all their flour, sugar and eggs well stocked. :sneaky:  |
Re: It's official...Christmas is around the corner
Yup, started seeing a few Xmas items at Sainsbury's this week. It's not until the big Xmas biscuit and chocolate tins appear, that I get the real shock, usually late September.

Re: It's official...Christmas is around the corner
I've seen cards, wreaths and pudding out in the last couple of weeks.
There's a tree farm that has been taking bookings for Christmas photo's since the beginning of the month and most weekend slots between now and October have been booked as it's the best time for nice foliage pics. |

Christmas cake, stollen, rum and eggnog, I can take it. There are always some early stores but I think Nov 20 is early enough to put the eggnog on the shelves. Feel free to imagine a fat, boozed-up Jesus eating a big bowl of stuffing and gravy.

Re: It's official...Christmas is around the corner
I saw a set of Christmas lights up last night at someone's house.
I thought they might have been Halloween, with orange and/or purple, but they weren't. |
Re: It's official...Christmas is around the corner
Looking forward to decorating the new house for Christmas. My favorite time of year.

Re: It's official...Christmas is around the corner
Currently snowing, so seems appropriate.
I was getting in wood yesterday and there was a rather nice Christmas Tree that was in my way, should have chopped it. |

This entire end of the year, from when the weather starts getting sensible and the nights get longer right through to January 1st is my favourite.

Do not expect it to stick, too warm, but make the hills around look pretty.

Re: It's official...Christmas is around the corner
I think around here Costco has the record for earliest Christmas products being out, the local store started putting it out end of July/first week of August.
They even had a electric heater on display and operating, nothing like walking down an aisle to get blasted with hot air on a 85F day...lol Wal-Mart started once the school stuff was moved out of the seasonal department, and Home Depot has a few lights out but that is all for now. No snow on the mountains yet. |

I thought they had only just got rid of all the reduced Christmas stock from last year. For the poor store workers it a pity Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas doesn't have reusable stock. I mean Turkeys can be used at Christmas and Thanksgiving, why can't stollen? |
