Re: I'm now a US citizen
Now I have a valid excuse not to attend at all, living outside the US. Every year though I get a jury summons at my dads house still.

Here's a tip if you get jury service.
Often you can request to change the date, and if you change the date to something near a holiday weekend they often cancel the court date. You've then fulfilled your duty.

Congratulations! Curious to know how many people were at your oath ceremony? I had mine in LA in December and there were 3,300 people, my husband had his on February 20th and there were 3,275 people. Amazing how organized and efficient they are with that many people.

They got my gender wrong on the certificate at my Los Angeles ceremony.
When I went through the laborious process to get it fixed the agent said I must have made a mistake on my paperwork. I was very pissed.

Yes, your certificate.
Other citizens have passports, passport cards and birth certificates.

That's a lot of people. I forget the exact number, but it was something like 1250 people who were taking their oath ceremony. Did you have any entertainment? We had 30 minutes of Lithuanian and Latvian folk dancing to keep us occupied - presumably while they were printing and sorting the certificates.

Oh no!!! What a palaver! Did you notice the error at the time the certificate was given to you? Did you have to wait until they reprinted it, or....something else?

(I may end up homeschooling him until he is nearly six. He and his 9 year old sister are already "everywhere schooled". Game-schooling is a favorite activity.)
