I'm house hunting at the moment which is driving me insane as they don't use agents too much so I spend half the day 'kerb crawling!' I've given up thinking about work for a few months, plus a life in the British Criminal Justice system doesn't leave me qualified to do much! So a trip to the library soon to find some Voluntary work. Oh and non of you told me about the school hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7.30am start 3 days a week  it's killing me! Mods, it should be in the Wiki guide under, so you want to move to the USA - School Hours!:D So yes lifes good at the moment, thank you. I guess I'm living the dream..............Puppy pooh, kerb crawling, no job and 7.10am school runs! :D |

I'm fine I guess having spent a lot of time here makes it easier. I got a new puppy when I arrived, so she's keeping me busy.

What kind of puppy did you get? The 'dream' is what you make of it Tracey, just go with the flow and take time to settle in, accept the differences and embrace the experience. If you try to keep a good attitude and don't sweat the little things you will be half way there:thumbup: |

 there have been lots of 'older' threads where the BE'ers have complained about those early start times for school.
Thats not early its barbaric! A Maltese (my dog dies just as we started the Visa applications so I had to wait until I got here) she's so cute. :) The 'dream' is what you make of it Tracey, just go with the flow and take time to settle in, accept the differences and embrace the experience. Sorry for hijacking this post................Anyway back to chocolate, are those creme eggs I see in the shops really creme eggs or an American equivalent? The wrappers not quite the same? |
Re: I just ate...
Oh I just HATE cream eggs. My husband loves the things and he really shouldn't coz he's diabetic!
I am really panicking about moving across the pond. I hear there may not be Twiglets. I can deal with early school hours (they really are early!!) and I can deal with crawling kerbs but I am not sure my life will be the same on a Friday night without them. And whilst I am on that point, what about pickled onions? Do they exist in the US? They are not so much of an important part of my life but I feel better when I know they are there in the cupboard. My relo company is organising our international removal and giving us a very large container. Can we stock up on supplies before we leave? Things like tea, chocolate, crisps etc? Can we put them in the container? If so, I'm off to Costco in Aberdeen! |

Hope you have a great trip over. Not long now huh? |

Did you go there last time you were here - I am often to be found there frantically buying skips, chocolate hobnobs and atora on a Saturday afternoon. |

Pickled onions are DH's special treat; he'll buy a jar of the big ones occasionally when he's feeling flush. Otherwise, he looks for bargain jars of the Italian cocktail onions.. not really the same. When we lived in Greece, he pickled his own, but he hasn't been so moved since we moved here. You very likely can't pack any liquid foods in the container. |
