Stay safe.
It sounds crazy but I know two people staying put with no storm shutters. One is in the flood zone. Nuts.

I also saw two little girls run into a house across the street that had packing tape over the windows. I assumed everyone had seen that Mythbusters episode. I hope that family is leaving.

Indeed...same goes for several of us.

In the southern states I would say yes...a major storm/hurricane/tornado every year or so. I lived in NJ for 18 years...during that time we had the tail end of several storms/hurricanes. During my time there only one of significance reached NJ...Sandy 5 years ago. We sustained about $40K worth of damage...our power was off for approx a week.

As a human who has lived in the US since birth --- the answer is NO. These storms are happening with alarmingly increasing frequency and severity. Not normal at all. Maybe it's the new normal but it's certainly nothing like what I grew up with.

Climate change is a reality. We can argue about what caused it but, no, there is nothing normal about this.

Maybe we can agree to disagree. For a Brit living in the NJ since 1996...devastating storms..tornadoes, hurricanes etc...plus winter storms...are all part of life in various parts of the US. All of which Brits 'back home' have never experienced on the scale it occurs in the US.

I found the diary of somebody who lived where I am in 188o, mega snow at the end of September, we have not had that for sometime.

Some leaves have gone yellow...
