Hurricane Irma

Re: Hurricane Irma
I usually post on the Uk page, but as most of my family lives in FL, I also read this site.I have just been directed to this Facebook page which lists shelters, private homes offering space and other help, camps and hotels opening up for free or cheap, pets included. It also allows people to check in as to their safety, and for others to ask about loved ones. Hope this helps some people: https://www.facebook.com/safetycheck...da-sep09-2017/

Car trouble was a dead battery which was attended to by AAA. He and his family are safe. I'm sure he appreciates your concern.

Re: Hurricane Irma
I really hope you get through this. I have experienced 100 mph winds and moving was difficult, not to mention the flying projectiles. 150 mph winds, I doubt if you could move very much at all in those types of winds. Good luck
It doesn't look too bad this morning, This is a wbecam if anyone is interested https://app.truelook.com/?twresort=t...de=yes#tl_live

Re: Hurricane Irma
Thanks for all the good wishes.
We're 30 miles inland between Ocala and Gainesville. I was considering moving further East but we are outside the predicted path and there's a lot of rain right now.
Also, we are very prepared and in a much better position than millions of others much less fortunate than me. I'm in a brick house, with a storm proof basement, on a farm; we have generators for essentials, a well, propane tanks for the grill, a wood stove, and edible wildlife/animals if things got really bad. We should be ok.

Okay, I can rent out your room now
Glad you and the family are safe and sound.

Canadian's do it too. Saw some CBC reporters earlier today reporting live from Florida and they are not just US reporters doing a report for CBC, they are Canadian's.

Re: Hurricane Irma
So i decided to stay home. I checked out the shelter this morning. It was almost full.
The worst is to come overnight, but as of now, nothing bad to report. Electric flickered a couple of times.

Well the electric went out just before the Sunday night game started.
