We're flying into Logan from Heathrow tomorrow, big gales here and snow there I hear. Fingers crossed we'll get home ok.

We flew out of Heathrow yesterday. Take off was a bit gusty, but once at altitude it was a smooth flight. Came directly to Houston, so don't know what landing at Boston will be like, but we flew over NE US on the way, and it looked very pretty from 36000 feet! Fingers crossed for a smooth flight for you.

Thanks! Just checking on now and hoping for a smooth flight too. Not as windy as yesterday thankfully!

Used to go back twice a year, but now that mum and dad have passed away I have no intention to ever return no reason too!

Every two to three years, depending on the finances.

You wouldn't want to come here at the present time anyway......one Atlantic storm after another......gale force winds, trees toppling over all around, power cuts over Christmas for too many, coastal homes evacuated because of tidal surges, people washed away off sea fronts promenades - and many parts of the country turning into miniature Lake Districts.

Still, that's a damn sight better than the weather in the United States.

Yes - absolutely bloody freezing here and we've had a ton of snow! I hate the winters here and this one is proving to be a bad one. Our snow started in October (I kid you not)!

Even if I had no family back in the UK - I would still go back as often as I could. My family here are the only thing keeping me here..............

I have no desire to return what so ever, there is nothing there that interests me except Tesco's and Asda

I guess it all depends on what you want out of life. There are lots of things I like about living in the US (I've been here 23 years) but lately I have become very unsettled (maybe something to do with getting older - I was 60 last May). I hate the politics, greed, materialism - and I'm only getting started!

In this respect, I'd be content to move to England and live the rest of my life there, not just to vegetate in some Waitrose-induced nostalgic stupor, but recognizing that actually one could spend twenty lifetimes visiting places in England, either new places or return trips. Or just go out for a country walk and not go more than a mile or two from home.

What a good point! Moving away has made me realize how little I've actually seen of Britain.

I have been back 4 times in 8 years, my husband has been over much more with work.
